Some people say John Smith was a historian. Some say he was no more than a liar. No matter which he was, he certainly was a crucial player in the beginnings of America. This wiki will help us explore what we know, learn some new facts, assess and evaluate information on the internet about that time in history and then take a stand on this question--
Was John Smith a Liar, or was he a historian?
Here are the steps we will take in this study:
1. Activate prior knowledge:
What do you know about John Smith? Don't tell the Disney story but what you have learned in school or books about him. If you'd like to get with a friend and write, that's fine, but both of you contribute to what's written. Please organize your thoughts and write well-constructed paragraphs about what you know.
2. Learn some new facts:
Everyone must read the first article about Smith, Powhatan and the Indians
Choose two of the readings about John Smith and first synopsize them.
Then compare and contrast them. Be creative in how you do this.
3. Assess and evaluate information on the internet about that time in history:
Dissect the two web sites you read and explain your dissection.
